SITUATION COOD ON ALLIES' RIGHT. (Received September 10, 11 a.m.) ' BORDEAUX, 9th September. Official. — The Germans, having in their retreating movement crossed the Petit Morin, with a view to protecting their communications, made violent but unavailing attacks against our troops occupying the right bank of the Ourcq. The British are continuing the offensive in the direction of the Marne, on the plateau northward of Setignne ( ?Sezanne). Our troops are progressing, though with difficulty, on our centre. A violent battle is in progress on our right wing. The situation is good before Nancy and on the Vosges. PARIS, Bth September. It is officially reported that the Allies are making continuous progress from the banks of the Ourcq. They have got as far ac the region of Montmirail. The enemy are retreating in the direction of the Marne. An official communique states that the German divisions were attacked along a line from Ghateau-Salins to Nancy, and were repulsed to the north of Champcnoux lorest. The Allies havo captured Mavdray crest and Fourneaux Pass. [Montmirail is a town in Marne, 22 miles south-west of Epernay. Here Napoleon defeated the Russians and Prussians in 1814. Chateau-Salins is a town of Germany in Lorraine, 20rmiles north-east of Nancy.] \ PARIS, Bth September. An official communique states that the enemy are retreating in the direction of the Marne. Between Meaux and Sezanne, the Allies captured many prisoners, including an infantry battalion, a quickfirers* company and caissons. Violent engagements have taken place between French Ampenoire and Vitry-le-Francois at the southern extremity of the Argonne. The enemy did not succeed anywhere, and fell back on Vitry-le-Francois. LONDON, 9th September. > The Press Bureau confirms the report that the Allies are gaining ground. It Says that the British drove the enemy back for ten miles.
