FORECAST. i 'At 9 a.m. to-day the, following forecast was tstued for the subsequent 24 hours:- ' Winds.— Moderate to strong southerly northward of Kawhia and East Cape; moderate to strong westerly elsewhere, but strong to gale in the southernmost districts Barometer.— Falling tendency in the South; little movement elsewhere** Sen.— Rough on all the western coast and between Castlepohit and Kaikoura; moderate elsewhere. Tides.— High northward of Cape Egtnont; moderate northward of C'astlepoint; good elsewhere. Warning signals for westerly gales are exhibited at Nugget Point and Centre Island. Weather.— Fair to cloudy generally, with increasing haze aud cloudiness probable in the southern districts of tho South Islands, D. C. BATES.
