HOCKEY

REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS PICKED THE ELEVEN FOR AUCKLAND. The most important feature of Saturday's hockey was the selecting of the team to represent Wellington against Auckland in the fight for the Shield on Saturday, 19th September. A further trial was played between the A and B elevens, after which the players to make the trip to the northern city were selected. The game resulted in a win for the A team by 'seven goals to four, the scorers being as follow: — A's, Loader," Boyd (3), G. Strack (3); B's, Sheeran (2), Andrews, and K. Strack. The referees were Messrs. J. C. Cusack and G. Keall. THE TEAM. The following team was selected : — Goal, Dwyer; fullbacks. Jacobsen and M'Eldowney^ half-backe, Rountree, M'Gregor, and Thompson ; forwards, Sheeran, C. Strack, G. Strack, L. Boyd, and Loader. Emergencies : back, Gaze; half, Cody; forward, X Strack. Any players or supporters who intend to accompany the team to Auckland are requested to notify the secretary at once in order to enable him to make the necessary travelling arrangements.
