POTATO PLANTING AT HUTT
A meeting of those interested in the planting of potatoes at Lower Hutt was held last evening, when it was decided to hold a concert at the Town Hall on 11th September for the purpose of aug. menting the funds for the work. It was announced that about seven acres of land had been secured for planting, while six tons of seed potatoes had been donat* cd. The donors of the seed are as follow:—H. Baldwin and Co. and Thomas and Co., one ton each; Canterbury Farmers (Waimate), Moody, Annand and Co. (Timaru), Townsend and Paul, Thompson Bros., Laery and Co., Farmers' Distributing Co., and New Zealand Farmers' Produce Co., half a toh each. It was reported that cash donations had been received totalling £4 18s. It is expected that planting will be commenced next Saturday afternoon.
