MACMAHON'S NEW THEATRE
Mr. Charles MacMahon's New Theatre in Manners-6treet was '.reopened to-day Under circumstances that reflected the greatest credit upon the new management. Nothing has been spared to make the thoatre a "cosy corner," and it is now replete with every comfort. For the opening the headliner this afternoon was a dramatisation in picture form of Maxwell Grey's now notorious novol "The Silenoe of Dean. Maitland." Tho story is a daring and impressive one, but vivid and human throughout, and it lends iteelf peculiarly to picture presentation. _ The film is an ontirely new one, and it has not been previously screened anywhere el6e. The supporting programme too, i* an admirable one. The series of viewe\ of an ostrich farm, in New South Wales ie exceptionally interesting, and this film, too, is an exolusjve one. The pTigilietic encounter of Mike and Jake is an excellent comic of a most diverting character, and "The Rajah and the Ring" is a good "dramatic photo-play, notably in the quality of the photographic work. The remaining pictures aro, in keeping with tho general average of excellence of the programme. There will be two full sessions to-night, and thereafter the theatre will he conducted daily 'as a continuous entertainment from "noon till 10-50.
