EXECUTIVE FORMED IN WELLINGTON.

There was a representative meeting of leading business men. arranged by the Wellington' branch of the New Zealand Sports Protection League, at noon to-day to form a committee to promote the Poor of Great Britain a-nd Ireland Relief Fund throughout the district. Mr. 0. ' P. Rkerrett explained that the promotets of the movement in Christchurch hal asked that a committee of citizens ho formed to manage the fund in the Wellington district, and it was decided that all those present, together with Mr. Jack, secretary of the Farmers' Union, and several others, who notified their willingness to act, form themselves into a general committee, with power to add to their number. The following were appointed an executive committee ;—-Chairman,; — -Chairman, Mr. C. P. Skerrett, K.C. ; vicechairman, Mr. J. B. Harcourt; lion, treasurer. Mr. Lan G. Duncan; committee, Messrs. T. S. Weston, M. Kennedy, 0. \V. Trmgham. Hon. Dr. Collins, M.L.C., Geo. Shirtcliffe, C. G. Wilson ; secretaries. Messrs. R. W. Shallcrass and W. Pryor.' Some discussion took place upon a suggestion made to extend -the relief to B'.'ltptiiu, and it was decided to approve the suggestion that the administration of the gift at Home should be left with the executive of the Prince of Wales Fund, with power to devote such portion as they deem necessary to the needs of the Belgian pooi Very satisfactory reports were received of the progress of the movement ;n Canterbury and in the country districts. The Executive Committee will meet to consider means of further promoting the fund in the city.
