ASSOCIATION NEW ZEALAND COUNOIL. The Management Committee of the New Zealand Football Assaciatkei held a meeting last evening, Mr. L. White presiding. Other members present were :— Messrs. H. J. Salmon (Southland), W. Auld (Taranaki), & Kutcheeon (Marlborough) > 0. E. Foidham (Otago); W. J. H. Reynolds (Pbverty Bay], J. Ince (Manaw&tu), J. J. Lewis (Wanganui), T. M'Laren (Auckland), the secretary (Mr. B. L. Salmon), and the treasurer (Mr. A. Kerr)» With regard to the donation q! an ammunition wagon for the Expeditionary Force, the_ Wellington, Canteifoury, and Wanganui Associations inbicttated that they were unable to give any ' support to the proposal, while offem of assistance in the matter were received from the Tauranga, Poverty Bay, Southland, and Otago Associations. v As he had, after numerous requests, refused to produce the books of "the Wellington Referees' Association, a-well-known soccer enthusiast was dss-, qualified for life, ' and warned off all grounds under the jurisdiction of the New Zealand Association. The association's London representative forwarded a copy of a letter fromi Mr. Henri Gasqueton, concerning the 1 visit of a French team to Australia and! New Zealand. The letter stated : "Wo, estimate that with 18 men we must askf as guarantee the sum of £2400 to pay; the passages (return). N After that wei must have all expenses over there. Il mean hotel, journeys, etc." The French' Association is evidently anxioVis to havethe tour arranged, and is willing to make it as long as desired. Eeplying to this letter* the London representative stated that there was no chanca of securing from the Australian and New Zealand Associations any guarantee whatever, so that there was no prospect of arranging a tour unless the club was prepared to run the risk on the understanding that ,it would receive any gate moneys vihieh might be obtained at the various centres. On account of the present international crisis the matter was held overt. Several notifications of suspensions by various associations were confirmed. Mr, J. Smith was appointed to tbe, Appeal Board set up to consider the "Crouch case," in place of Mr. F.. J. Courtenay, who intimated that he vould be unable to act. The other members of the hoard are Messrs. 0. P. Skerrett and W. Munckton. REPRESENTATIVE RUGBY (BY TELKQRtPH— PRBBS ASSOCIATION.) MASTERTON, 27th August. In- the representative match Canterbury v. Wairarapa-, played to-day, the visitors outclassed the local men in all departments, and won by 22 points to nil. Although the score was large, the game was fast and interesting. Canterbury did most of the scoring through the instrumentality of the backs, who were much faster than the Wairarapa men. Only six point* were scored in, the first half. In the second spell Wairarapa went to pieces. Tries were scored by M'Leod (2), Cade, Gray, Boag. and Cummins. M'Leod converged on? ajid Gray one., NEW PLYMOUTH, 27th August. The Southland-Taranaki Ranfurly Shield match resulted in a win for Tara« naki by 6 points to nil. The game may best be described a& a game of lost opportunities, Taranaki having by far the better of the pla.y, but failing to make use., of very many apparent chances to score. Southland's forwards, gave a fine exhibition, and the backs showed grand defence, ltoberts and Don Cameron scored for the winners. TIMARU, 27th August. South Canterbury (23) dofeated North Otago (6).
