FOR RELIEF OF DISTRESS
A contribution of £300 ha* been made by Messrs. Bing, Harris, and Co. for the relief of local distress. The Wellington secretary, of the Poor of Great Britain and Ireland Relief Fund (Mr. R. W. Shallcrass) has received two donations of £25 each from Mr< J. P. Firth and Mr. C. P. Skerrett, K.C. / The Executive of .^he Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Sports Protection League at a meeting yesterday decided to give the movement the hearty BupDort of the branch, and to make its organisation available for the purposes of the fund. The other branches are being a»ked to do the same ; and in ,the meantime the central organisation wUI remain in Christchuroh, where the scheme originated.
