THE WILLING HELPERS LONG LIST OF CONTRIBUTIONS. MONEY POURING IN. • Contributions'; many of considerable magnitude, are being received freely for the various funds established in con* nection with the despatch of the expedi' tionary force*. In addition to those which are being Announced, others are being received by various collectors, for in* stance, for the Countess of Liverpool fund, and others of like nature. The Empire Defence Fund will be con* trolled by the Paymaster-General. All the banks are instructing their branches that all moneys subscribed for that object are to be paid into the different accounts and the bank receipts forwarded to the Paymaster-General, who will credit them to the various purposes to which they are requested to be devoted. The Mayor of Wellington (Mr. J. P. Luke) will be pleased to Yeoeive- and acknowledge any donations made to the National Defence Fund. The Prime Minister read in the House yesterday a list of donations received by the Government for the Empire Defenco Fund. Following were the principal gift* :— -Wright, Stephenson, and Co.. Ltd., offer 4000 bushels of prime feed oats, and the services of their staff of eighteen- stockmen, with their motor-cars, to take the military officers buying horses over tho country, and, if required, will provide 350 canvas horse-covers. The officers and workmen of the Moumahaki Experimental Farm have presented an officer's horse valued at £50. The Manawatu Dental Association, a complete "equipment for Mr. A. L. ISogan, of Pahnerston North, who has applied for appointment as dental surgeon on the medical staff of the Expeditionary Force. Messrs. Nelson Bros., Tomoana, tele§raphed to the Quartermaster-General of ie New Zealand Forces offering 500 carcases, of mutton, or, if the Department prefers it, £500. The Defence Department has this morning received SO guineas from Mr. A. Levy and £20 from Captain M. W. Ross, of Petone (the latter for medical outfit). Tho Joint Library Committee of • the Parliamentary Library decided yosterday, on the suggestion of the Chief Librarian (Mr. C. Wilson), to send 100 novels out of the Library with the Expeditionary Force. IN OTHER PLACES Dunedin.— -The following additional donations to the patriotic fund have been received : National Insurance Company of New Zealand £1000, Standard Insurance Company £500, Herbert Haynes and Co. £500, Dunedin Jockey Club £500, Forbury Park Club £250. Auckland. — The Citizens' Patriotic Fund now amounts to about £10,000 } i the New Zealand Insurance Company has given £1000; Green and Colebrook, £1000; and the Auckland Star, £1000. .The Mayor telegraphed to the Bight Hon. W. F. Massey, Prime Minister, j £5000 yesterday morning. The Borough Council, feeling that its funds should be conserved for lodal employment, deferred a decision on a proposal to give one twentieth of its revenue for the provi&o& of food for the poor in England. The Finance Gommittae is to consider a motion to ask the Government to empower the council to levy an additional rate. Pahiatua : A considerable Bum has been raised, several horses are offered, and a committee is canvassing' for *&• mounts. The Masterton Lands Trustees offer £100 if the contribution can be legally made, and the Savage Club has given £26. Martom The Marton Jockey Club has given £100, with a promise of another donation later if required. Palmerston North : The Campbellstreet School ha» provided £50 for boots., Dr. M'Nab has offered his residence to the military authorities.
