The Times in a leader Bays : — "Italy well knows that the success of Austrian arms will destroy for ever her hopes of maintaining the freedom of the Adriatic. It is in the Adriatic that her most vital interests lie, and while neither Britain nor France can nt this stage of 'hostilities guarantee to Italy acquisition of new territory, it may be taken for granted that neither this country nor Us allies will offer any opposition to such action as Italy may deom requisite to safeguard her future."
