Aubrey Herbert, M.P., second s.on of the fourth Earl of Carnarvon, ami at one time in the Diplomatic Service, in a letter to The Times, quotes an eye-witness who saw a hundred Greek officers exterminating villagers in Southern Albania. A hundred thousand refugees are crowding into Valona from Berat and Korutia ; the streets are full of naked bodies of women, each with the mark of strangulation. Little babes have been hacked to pieces with knives. The Greeks burnt the whole countryside to cover trace of their atrocities. i The Albanians are killing their wives and children, to prevent them falling into the hands of the Greeks. * • N.Z.
