HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLED REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, llth July. (Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot) : — Mutton.— There has been a better tone in the market this week. The demand has been chiefly for light weight, Can Wbury, 4|d per lb for light weight. There is a better demand for heavy weight at 3 15-16 don account of higher prices of chilled beef. North Island mutton, 4|d per lb for light weight. Lamb. — There is a better demand for light weight. There is a dull sale for heavy carcases of lathb. The chief feature in the market is the demand for light weight, even if quality is very poor. Canterbury, twos, 6^d per lb ; heavy weights, fours, s|d. Other than Canterbury, 6 3-16 d for light weight. Beef. — ■There is a better demand for beef. New Zealand hinds, 4|d per lb ; fores, 3|d ; dulled hinds, 6d ; fores, 3|d. Butter.— The market is firmer. Dan ish, steady, per cwt, 122s to 1245; New Zealand, nominal, 114s to ,118s ; unsalted, 116s to 120s ; Australian, 106s to 108s ; Siberian, in good demand, 102s to 104s ; Irish creamery, 112s to 114s. Cheese. — Tho market" - is steady. Canadian, quiet market, per cwt, 63s to 645 ; 'New Zealand ■ white, in good demand, 65s to 665 ; coloured, 63s to 64s 6d; English cheddar, firm market, 70s to 745 ; Siberian, 52s to 565. Hemp. — The market is rather more active, especially for Manila. There is 9, slight rise in prices all round. Manila : Fair current, per ton, £26 ; forward shipment about * the same ; the output from Manila for the week was 16,000 bales. New Zealand : Good-fair, per ton, £25 10s; fair, £23 10s; forward shipment about the same prices. Stock of Now Zealand at 30Lh June : Hemp, 833 tons ; tow, 365 tons. Scheelite. — Mines : Blackwell, quotation, 4th July, "£l los 6d per unit.
