A SURPRISE PACKET
A Portland (Oregan) paper reports that Mrs. Wolf,^ of that city, unwrapped a package received by' post. The top of a cleverly-constructed box flew up, causing an explosion, which ignited a fuse which burned tho wrist of her right hand. Tho explosive itself did not ignite. Tho box. Bin long, 3in wide, and 2in deep, was addressed to her husband, a longshoreman, who has been concerned in the war between rival unions. It is thought the fuse was improperly connected with the explosive. The mechanism was turned over to the police. This package is the climax of a. series of threatening letters left on the Wolf front porch. Tlis postmark on the box wajs blurred.
