AMBULANCE WORK
THE ANNUAL REPORT The General Committee of the St. John Ambulance Association, New Zealand, Wellington Centre, in its annual report states that the chief work of the year has been instruction in ambulance, | and in home nursing and ambulance | transport of sick and injured. In all, j twenty-two classes of instruction were held. The total number attending the classes was 363, 157 members being men and 206 women. The examinations were passed by 122 men and 170 women. The repoit goes on to mention the excellent work done by nurses and first-aid woikors (trained by the association and the brigade) during the late strike. In recognition of their services, eight of the most, assiduous lady workers were the recipients of presentations by the foot special constables. These were :—: — Mesdames Moorhouse, Corrigan. Fisher. Baker, and Barclay, and Misses Mack, Paterson, and Reynolds (of Dunedin). During the year the association's vc- ' hides were used on 479 cases for removing sick and injured. A grant of £50 had been made by the Macarthy Trustees to the funds of the centre, and a bequest of £500 by the late "Mrs. Rhodes was to be received. Owing (.o the unsettled state of affairs during the strike, the committee had refrained 'from holding Ambulance Day at the usual time, and, in consequence of this, the association had received no revenue from this source during the financial year. The report refers ' in fitting terms to the death of Mrs. S. A. Rhodes, Lady of Grace of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, and also mentions the loss of such an able administrator and councillor as the late Viscount Knutsford, P.C., Sub-Prior of the Order, who died recently. Tho statement of receipts and expenditure for the year ending 31st March, 1914, shows a credit balance of £23 16s. MEDALLION LIST.
