MILITARY TRAINING
FARMERS ASK FOR A REFERENDUM. (BY TELEGRAPH.— PIIESS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, 22nd May. The following motions have ' been given notice of for tho annual meeting of the Otago Provincial Council of the Farmers' Union : — (1) That the Government bo asked to take a referendum, of people as co those in favour of military training ; (2) that compulsory service in the Territorials be restricted to youths residing within two miles of a borough; (3) that rifle clubs be encouraged in rural districts.
