NEW LINER STAR OF ENGLAND. SAILS FROM LONDON. , Cabled advice from Home announces the departure on Thursday last of the new liner Star of England for Wellington, via Australian ports, Auckland, and Napier The vessel is O» her maiden voyage, and should arrive at thiß port about the 14th July, The Star of England is the latest addition to the new Commonwealth and Dominion Line, having been originally built for the Tyser Line, which has Since merged into the larger company. ATHENIC REPORTED. A cablegram reports that the Shaw-Savill liner Athenic, which sailed from Wellington on the 23rd April, left Monte Video, iv continuation of her journey to London, last Friday. She is due Home on the 4th June. MOANA /ARRIVES AT SAN FRANCISCO. The R/M.S. Moana, which left Wellington for San Francisco on the 24th April last, reached her destination last Thursday — time-table date. She leaves again for this port and Sydney on the 27th inst., and is due here on the 23rd June. I WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE. Turakina sailed fr6m London on Thursday laat, the 14th May, for Wellington, via Teneriife, Capetown, and Hobaft. She is due here about the 30th June. MATATOA' ARRIVES HOME. According to advice from Home the Shaw, Savlll, and Albion Company's steamer Matatua arrived at London on Sunday last from Wellington, The vessel sailed from here on the 2nd April, and culled at Monte Video on the 23rd April. PERSONAL. I Mr. F. H. Edge, chief officer of the 6.8. Taviuni, has come ashore on leave in consequence of having received an injury to one of his fingers. Mr. F. w. Collins joined, the Taviuni yesterday as third officer. Captain Howell, formerly of the F. and S. liner Dorset, who \vas succeeded by Captain Jarvis, resigned to take up a shore appointment at Brisbane. Mr. W. Petersen, chief engineer of the Makttra, is at Auckland awaiting the arrival of the Niagara, which steamer he joins on the 2nd June, succeeding Mr. Bullion late chief engineer, who Is proceeding to England in connection flith the construction of the new oil-burning steamer for the Vancouver service. NAIRNSHIRE LEFT LAS PALMAS. In continuation of her voyage from Lyttelton and other New Zealand ports to Avonmouth, the F. and 'S. Line's steamer Nairnshire sailed from Las Palmas on the 11th May. She left Lyttelton. ou the 29th March. ANDROMEDA AT AUCKLAND. The four-masted barque Andromeda, which arrived afc Auckland on Saturday from New York, had a very u'ough passage of 122 days'. She left the American port on the 14th January last, and on the long voyage encountered exceptionally rough weather. The boats and deck fittings suffered considerable damage as a result of the heavy seas which broke on board. The vessel^camc to New Zealand under charter to the Vacuum Oil Company, and has over 70,000 cases of oil to put out at Auckland. THE KOONYA'S NEW SERVICE. Commenting on the new Tastnanian-Queens-land service, the Weekly Summary (Sydney) says;— The Tasmanian-Qucensland service has begun, the Union Company's Koonya having arrived at Brisbane, and she fared well with inward freight, but outward, well, the supply is limited. However, for a while, coal from Newcastle -must be Accepted for the back loading, it would seenl. COMMAND OF THE INDRABARAH. Captain W. H. Lea, late of the Indraiema, is now in. charge of the Commonwealth and Dominion litter Indrafearah. She will, in that case, berth at the Queen's Wharf between 1 and 2 o'clock. | TAINUI DUE TO-NIGHT. This morning a wireless message was received stating that the R.M.S. Tainui will arrive in Wellington from London at 8 o'clock this evening. She will anchor In the stream until tomorrow morning, when she will berth between 8 und 0 o'clock, HENRIK IBSEN LEFT AUCKLAND. The United Tyser chartered steamer Henrik Ibsen left Auckland this morning for Wellington. The vessel, which is originally from New York, is a slow type of tramp, and will probably occupy three days in coming down the coast. She has 000 tons bf general cargo for Wellington) and will complete discharge in the South. The ketch Kereru, which recently secured a renewal of the mail contract between Auckland and Niue (Cook Islands) completed her first round trip under the new contract on Saturday morning. * She brought from the lonely outpost (a description of wjiich was published in The Post last Friday) several passengers and Borne 30 tons of copru nnB fungus. ' The Kereru returns to the islands about the 25th May. The Arahura left Westport at 8 O'clock this morning for Wellington, and is due here tomorrow night. Owing to the wet weather the Ripple's departure (for Napier and Glsborne has been postponed until to-morrow. The New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Tongarlro, now discharging London cargo at Auckland, Is due here llcfore the end of the month. The Huddart-Pnrker steamer Hiverina la to continue in the ferry run between Auckland and Sydney until the end of June.
