THE CAPTURE OF TAMPICO REBELS MEET WITH DESPERATE RESISTANCE. FURY OF THE CONSTITUTIONALISTS. WASHINGTON, 14th May. The rebels (Constitutionalists) encountered a. desperate resistance before they captured Tampico. Heavy firing continues around the city, and it is believed that the Federals are fighting a rearguard action. The Constitutionalists hold the rail' loads between Tampico and Monterey. The losses are not known. The State Department at Washington understands that the Federals evacuated Tampico, unable to withstand the fury of the Constitutionalists' attack.
