THE PEACE CONFERENCE U.S. REPRESENTATIVES TWO WELL-KNOWN JURISTS > APPOINTED. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) WASHINGTON, 11th May. Mr. Justice Lamar, of the United States Supreme Courb (and an eminent jurist), and Mr. F. W. Lehman, ex-Solicitor-General, have been appointed United States representatives at the Peace Conference at Niagara Falls. FEDERAL REPORT. REPULSE OF~THE REBELS. ANTI-AMERICAN OUTBURSTS IN MEXICO CITY. MEXICO CITY, 11th May. The Federals report that they have repulsed the rebels in the vicinity of Tampico, and with heavy loss. Anti-American outbursts continue_ to occur at the capital. An American official was chased into the Brazilian Consulate by a mob of Mexicans who were thirsting for his blood. The Brazilian officials refused to give up the refugee, and the mob then departed. The Consul (Mr. SilMman) is still detained, although Mr. Bryan (United States Secretary of State) is making strong representations for his release. HUERTA INTERVIEWED. CONQUEST OF MEXICO WILL BE A DIFFICULT TASK. "A MASKED AMERICAN WAR." " LONDON, 12th May. The Daily Telegraph's correspondent at Mexico City has interviewed President Huerta, who declares that the conquest of Mexico will be a difficult task for America, and will cost more than they imagine. " America may not be successful," says Huerta, "for even if the capital is taken, endless guerilla warfares will be maintained. The revolution in Mexico is nothing but a masked American war. Whole companies of Americans have fought under Villa."
