MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB
The annual meeting of the Corpora" tion Employees' Miniature and Momstube Rifle Club was held on Thursday , evening. The report and balalice»Bheet, which allowed a satisfactory state of affairs, was 1 adopted. The following officers were ' elected :— Patron, the Mayor ; president, the City Engineer ; vice-presidents, members of the City Council and heads of departments ; captain, Mr. R. Pringle; vice-captain, Mr. W. J. Fanlknor; hon. secretary, Mr. W. Tuppittj hon. treasurer, Mr. J. Brown. The election of a committee was held over. During the year the club fired 26 matches, of which 14 were won and 12 lost. The club also won the Gas Company Shield, with a record score of 420 poults. Two rifles have been ordered from England, and they are expected to arrive shortly. Shooting will be commenced about the 18th inst. The meeting passed a vote of thanks to tho City Council for granting tho sito ' for the range, fftnd to Messrs. W. H. Morton, Dimes, Saulter, Rabe, D. Les* lie, and Miss Bennett for their efforts on behalf of tho club. A vote of thanks was also passed to the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), Mr. C. Collins (City Treasurer), Mr. J. Brown, Mr. JT. Ames (City Valuer), Councillor Buddie, and Mr. E. Schauer for trophies and sub" scrintions. The season is to be opened with a match between councillors ant! heads of departments.
The Terrace Congregational Church will hold its anniversary service* to-mois row, and tho tea and public meeting on Tuesday next.
