APPOINTED COMMANDER-INi CHIEF IN SCOTLAND. (By Telegraph.— Presss Aesociat on.-Copyri&hfc.) LONDON, Ist May. Lieutenant-General Sir John S. Ewarb (Adjutant-General of the Forces since 1910) has been appointed Commander-in» Chief of the Army in Scotland. Ewart, who, with Sir John French, resigned as a result of the pledge gi\en to all officers regarding the us>e of troops against Ulster, served with the Egyptian expedition, 1882, at Tel-el'Kebir ; Sudan expedition, 1884-5 ; Sudan, 1885-6, and took part in the actions at Kosheh and Giniss. Hd served with the Nile expedition in 1898, Rnd was present at the battle of Khartoum. Ho also served in the South African war, 1899-1902.]
