In the Reichstag there was read a first time a Bill embodying the international •agreement with regard to the safety of ships at sea ; also a mail subsidies Bill., Tho latter shows a decrease of from six million marks (about £500,000) to 1,200,000 marks (about £100,000), this being mainly due to the Hamburg- Ainerika' and Norddeutschei"Lloyd lines ccntiaa* ing their Far Eastern services without subsidy, and the abandonment of tho Norddeutscher-Lloyd's Australian service.
