OVERCROWDED SCHOOLS
— ' <»—» — ACTION IN CANTERBURY. <l> TELEGRAPH.— SPECIAL TO THE POST.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The North Canterbury School Committees' Association has issued a circular to the chairman of every school com> mittee in the district drawing attention to the question of ovei crowding. The circular states that the following motion will be moved at the meetings of householders next week ; — "That this meeting of householders protests against the insufficient and unsuitable accommodation provided for the children attending their school, and while recognising that the Education Board is doing its best in the matter in view of the shortage of funds provided by the department, slili considers that the position is serious and calls for public agitation and must b«s remedied more thoroughly and promptly than is provided for by the present building proposals of the board. We therefore recommend the incoming coinnuttee to make arrangements in conjunction with other committees similarly situated to hold a. public meeting under the auspices of the School Committees' Association in tho centre of the cit^ to fully ventilate and discuss the position before thy endof Mjj/i ' '"
