STEAMER IN TROUBLE OFF COAST OF FORMOSA SHIPS HURRYING TO THE RESCUE. _____ s (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) (Received May 2, 10.35 a.m.) TOKIO, Ist May. The mail steamer Liberia, going to Manila, has made repeated wireless calls for help off the shore of Formosa. She has seventy passengers. The messages are getting more indistinct. Several ships are hurrying'to the spot. [The Siberia, is a steel vessel of 11,284 tons gross, built in 1901, and owned by the Pacific Mail Steamship Company.] VESSEL FULLY EQUIPPED. REPORTED ATTACK BY CHINESE PIRATES. STORY NOT CREDITED. (Received May 2, 1 p.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, Ist May. The Pacific Mail Company state that the Siberia is fully equipped to save the crew and passengers. A report of an attack by Chinese pirates is not accepted here. Mr. George Egan, Governor of Batanga«, Philippines, is aboard.
