MR. ROOSEVELT'S EXPEDITION STORY BY ONE OF HIS COMPANIONS SHOOTING RAPIDS. (By Telegraph.— Pres* Association.— Copyright.) (Received May 2, 1 p.m.) NEW YORK, Ist May.Mr. Anthony Fiala, one of Mr. Roosevelt's companions on- his expedition, has arrived from Rio d© Janiero. He says the expedition was sucked under when shooting the-rapids on the Papagaio River, j The natives swam ashore, but Mr. Fiala, with great difficulty, avoided drowning owing to a map board strapped to his wrist. He -managed to catch an overhanging tree and climb up it. He then scrambled ashore. Mr. Hoosevert did not accompany the party on. this occasion.
