HOAXED BY A BOGUS PRINCE.
.. -i «<» Two carefully-groomed , young men have succeeded in perpetrating an amusing hoax on a number of society p&ople in London. Posing as The Crown. Prince of Wurttemburg and his private secretary, "Lord Stantcra Hope," they began their joke at the Hendon Aerodrome, where Mr. Graham©- White, the well-known aviator, gave the "Prince" a long free trip by aeroplane that would have cost the ordinary private individual at least ten guineas. The pair made their first appearance as the Prince afcd Lord Hope at Hendon Aerodrome, when the private secretary, asked Mr. QrahameWhite to give his Royal master a flight. Both were charming and polished, and the "Prince' <rf Wurttemberg" had dficidedly German features. "The imposition," said Mr. GrahameWhite, "was not difficult to practise, because Royalty frequently visit the aerodrome, and I am always willing to givo them a flight, especially if they represent a foreign Power, as an. act of hospitality. Before the affable young ge-ntlemen quitted the aerodrome they had insinuated themselves into an exclusive titled circle, and received invitations to lunch and dinner, which "Lord Hope," at any rate, was caTeful to keep. Enquiry at the German Embassy disclosed the hoax, for there is no Crown Prince of Wurttemburg, and no LoTd Stanton Hope was known there. By that time the pair had disappeared. The joke seems to have been quite a harmless one, but the hoax succeeded admirably.
