ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of shareholders of the Wellington Opera House Company was held on Thursday afternoon, Mr. W. H. P. Barber, chairman of directors, presiding. The report of the directors states :•— "We recommend a dividend of 3 per cent., this, together with 3 per cent, paid on the 23rd" October ' last, making the dividend 6 per cent, .for the year ; also, thai the usual bonus of £105 to the, directors be declared; and that such dividend and bonUs be made payable on or before Monday, the 4th May, 1914. It will be observed, upon perusal of the balance-sheet, that the profit ahd loss account show' 3 a credit balance of £3*207 8s 6d, and, after paying the dividend and directors' honorarium, a balance of about £1500 will be carried forward. Shareholders _ will also notice that the amount received of the new capital amounts to £21.484 6s 6d, leaving still £8515 13s 6d to call up." The report also states that the new Grand Opera House has been leased to J. C. Williamson, Ltd., and that the Mannerssfcreet Opera House has been let for a number of years at a satisfactory rental. The theatre is undergoing extensive alterations and decorations. The directors add that the prospects of the company are most encouraging. Included in the expenditure on the Grand Opera House are the following : — Architects' fees, £1675; clerk of works, £370; law cost, £145; scenic artist, £374. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Messrs. Charles Plimmer and W . Freeman, the retiring directors, were re-elected, and Messrs. W. C. Stephens and E. Bucholz were re-appointed auditors.
