WELLINGTON RUGBY LEAGUE ELECTION OF OFFICERS. • The second annual general meeting of the Wellington Rugby League was held last evening in the Trades Hall. The following clubs were represented by one. delegate or more : Athletic, Newtown, Petone, Hutt, and Suburbs. Mr. M. J. R.eardon, president of the league, occupied the chair. Referring to the annual report, which was afterwards adopted, the president spoke at some length in criticism of the attitude of the City Council towards the League, and of the difficulty in which the League found itself in regard to playing areas. He also explained, in reply to a question, that, on account of the financial position of the League, it had been impossible to make any definite arrangement for a match with the English" touring team. The following omcers were elected for the ensuing year .-—President, Air. M. J. Reardon (re-elected) ; vice-presidents, Messrs. F. J. Hodgins, J. Fuller, jun., i.l. Senior, J. P Luke, W. L. Wooiley, J. N. Grant, J. T. Levetb, C. G. Odlin, B. C. Waines, R. Fleming, D. Gamp- j boll, A. Linley, and J. Mac Donald; hon. sec, Mr. W. S. Brice; treasurer, Mr. W. Martin; selectors, Messrs. W. S. Brice, W. Kerr, and F. Summers. Mi". Webb suggested that the New Zealand Council should bo asked to call a conference of all the New Zealand Leagues, to be held in Auckland at the same time as the Referees' Conference, on 24th April, to go into all matters connected with the League. Many rumours were current regarding the central governing body; and its position badly needed to be cleared up. The President suggested that there was no need for a special conference; the annual meeting of the New Zealand League would be held, at the end of the month, and the affiliated Leagues had the right, hitherto not generally exeicised, to send direct representatives to this meeting. The best course would probably be^-t&' urge the Leagues to send direct representatives to the annual meeting. A" resolution framed to em- ■ body the president's suggestion was carried, and the president was elected to be the Wellington League's delegate to the meeting. On the motion of Mr. W. Ken- it was resolved that the New Zealand Council should be urged to institute a Dominion insurance scheme to cover all League players. The mover, in proposing the motion, said that by means of a Dominion scheme much better terms could be arranged than by tho separate activities of the local Leagues. The meeting then went into committee to discuss financial business. ASSOCIATION The following will represent the Wellington V.M.C.A. boys department in their annual match against the Auckland Association, to be played on the Domain next Saturday : Goal, J. Roberts; fullbacks, V Halley and L. Myers; halfbacks, G. Baker, F. Thomas, and G. Ward; forwards, A. Ross, VV. Cook, P. Henry, F. Swiney, and C. Worth.
