The Hon. J. Allen is at Auckland, and the Hon. R. H. Rhodes at Roxburgh. All the other Cabinet Ministers are in Wellington. The Hon. A. L. Herdman leaves this evening for Christchurch to attend the annual dinner of the Canterbury branch of tho New Zealand Public Service Association. He will return, on Sunday morning. Mr. Justice Sim arrived in Wellington from the South this morning. Mr. J. ±i. Upton, a director of the Bank of New Zealand, returned to Auckland yesterday. Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., has bfeen appointed a Visiting Justice for,_H.M. Prison, Wellington. Mr. A. M'Fariane, president of the Pahiatua A. and P. Association, is about to leave on a visit to Great Britain. Mr. D. P. Porteous is gazetted Deputy Registrar of Marriages, Births, and Deaths for the district of Levin. Major-General Godley, who attended the Orakau celebration in the Waikato, came back to Wellington yesterday afternoon. The Revs. J. R. Glasson, W. A. Evans, and A. E. Hunt, officiated at the funeral of the Rev. David Meadowcroft yesterday. Mr. Paul Dufault, who is to leave the Bluff for Australia, next Monday, was a passenger for Lyttelton by the Maori last night. Mr. J. S. Evans, S.M., at Nelson, who came to Wellington to finish a case which he had partly heard some weeks ago. will return to his home to-night. Mr. James Coates, general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand — who is going Home to confer with the London Board of Directors — will leave Auckland by the R.M.S. Marama on Bth IVfay. He wilt 1 be away for at least six months. The Colonial Auxiliary Forces long-ser-vice medal has been awarded to Mr. D. J. Hutchison, late colour-sergeant 12th (Nelson) Regiment, twenty-one years' service} Major J. E. Batten, 7tk (Wel-lington-West Coast) Regiment, twentytwo years' service ; and Major W. G. Ashworth, 6th (Manawatu) Mounted Rifles, twenty-one years' service. The death occurred a.t Marua, in the Auckland district, recently of Mr. John Low, aged 87. The deceased was a native of Aberdeen, and was in the Royal Navy for many years. He was On EM.S. Driver in the Baltic during the Russian war of 1854. He has left a widow, a. daughter, 19 grand children, and 28 great grand children. Mr. H. E. Dallow was (telegraphs The Post's Palmerston North correspondent) presented by the Catholic societies last evening _ with a purse of sovereigns in recognition of the valuable services rendered to the church and societies. Mr. Dallow, who has been 'fifteen years in Palmerston, leaves t for Wellinpto.-i, wehre he will enter into business on his own accounl. Mr. A. G. Barnett, Assistant-Secre-tary a-nd Treasurer of the Harbour Board, was yesterday afternoon presentod by the chajrman, executive, and mfunbers of the Harbour Board's staff with .'i solid silver tea and colfee service and oak tray as <i, mark of e.-sttem on his approaching marriage.
