AUCKLAND, 2nd April. Risking her own life ta save her son from almost certain death, Mrs. Harkins, a lesident of Wellesley sitreet West, sustained serious injuries in her successful effort to drag her child away. She now lies in a serious condition af> the hospital, where the full extent of her injuries has not yet been ascertained. Mrs. Harkins was engaged in her store when she heard the noise of her horse and trap, which had been stabled in a neighbouring yard, 'running along the pavement. She Immediately rushed out and saw the horse coming at full gallop and her boy playing in front. Quickly rushing to his rescue she was in time to drag him away, but too late to avert an accident. She fell backwards against the wall of the shop and the wheels of the trap ran over her thigh. She was picked up in an almost unconscious condition and conveyed to the hospital.
