SAD FATALITY YOUNG MAN'S SKULL FRACTURED.

A Bad accident happened a ehort distance from Brown's, resulting in the death of Alexander Stuart Patterson, a farm labourer, twenty-eight years ot' age, who leaves a. widow oncl family. Deceased, who was minus his left ha ml. was employed on his brother's farm at Springhills. He left home nt 6.30 p.m. for Brown's, about four miles away, riding a horeo ho had just purchased. On the return journey lie was accompanied by Robert Ross, and on arriving home the deceased rode to the house to obtain matches, Ross remaining at the gate to clob© it alter Patterson left. 4fter waiting for about a quarter of an hour. Mr. Ross went inside, and found deceased lying on his back on the ground, unconscious. His hoTsb was .1 short 'distance away, lie was removed to the house, and a doctor was called in, but he remained tinconsciofle until his death. -Deceased had had no drink at Brown's, and was perfectly sober when returning home. The cause of death w«ij fracture of the base.pf the skull.
