The value of purified petroleum as s healing remedy for digestive aad bowei disorders is now universally recognised, Unlike animal or vegetable oils, petroleum is not digested but passes through th< stomach unchanged, hence its soothing, lubricating, disinfectant action is exercised throughout the entire alimentary tract Moreover, petroleum, when properly puri fied, does not interfere in the. slightest de> gree with the digestive processes, but, or the contrary, allays gastric irritation anc improves both appetite and digestion.
