HUTT FATALITY FUNERAL OF SEVENTH VICTIM
Yesterday the seventh victim of Sunday's tragedy, Everard H. D. Pelling, was borne to his last resting-place—the Trentham Cemetery. The cortege, which left deceased's fabher's residence, Main-road, Upper Hubt, ab aboub 3 p.m., was a lengthy one, there being upwards of forty vehicles and two hundred pedestrians in the procession. A detachment of deceased's old Territorial comrades— D Company Fifth Regiment— followed bhe hearse, while among those in attendance were Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P., Mr. R. H. Webb, and Mr. F. W. Kemp (members of the Town Board), Messrs. J. Whiteman and F. Edwards (members of the Hutt County Council), Mr. E. P. Bunny (Mayor of Lower Hutt), Rev. Father Daly, Rev. Mr. Usher, Mr. S. Hill (Government Valuer), other members of local bodies, and members of the local cricket and football clubs. On tho arrival of the funeral procession at Trentham, the casket was conveyed to the Anglican Church, where a service was held. A touching address was delivered by bhe Rev. Mr. Sykes, who referred feelingly bo bhe griefstricken families, and exbended on behalf of himself and his congregabion bheir heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved ones. He exhorted all those who believed in a Supreme Being, irrespective of creed or faith, to remember the sorrowing one in their prayers. The scene ab bhe graveside was impressive. 4. party of thirteen non-com-missioned officers of the D Company lufth Regiment fired a volley over the grave, while Sergeant-Major Wicken sounded the "Last Post.'' "The Flowers of the Foresb" was feelingly rendered by Mr. Angus Archer, formerly of the Cameron Highlanders.
