PETONE BOROUGH MEETING OF THE COUNCIL

Tbe Petone Borough Council met last evening when the following were pre-sent-:—Tho Mayor (Mr. J. W. M'Ewnn) and Councilloie Fofsyth, List, Cox, Brocklebank, Anderson, Findlay, Townsend, Jones, and Trueman. A formal notification was received from the Harbour Board advising that tbe board had agreed to erect a boat harbour at Petone subject to the council paying one-half of the annual chargea, lees one-half of the mooring fees- received. Two local picture theatre proprietors were granted permission to 6creen suitable pictures on Good Friday. An application from the secretary of the Petone Mnnicipal Band for the payment of the usual subsidy was agreed to. A iefctet from' B. Walker, Auckland, Offering to sell a quarry at Belmont for tbe sum of £800 was Teceived. The Wellington Motor Cycling Club was grant«d. permission to erect direction ppsts at the most advantageous spots in the borough. The Pfttone Workshops Cricket Club and the Petone Cricket Club were granted the use of grounds on the Recreation Ground at the terms hot forth in the application.
