SIR JOSEPH WARD AT TE AROHA. (M TELEGRAPH.— PKE3S »SSOCIATIOM.) AUCKLAND, 27th March. Sir- Joseph Ward addiessed a large meeting at the theatre at Te Aroha to-night, and was accorded a warm reception. Plis speech was much on the lineb of that delivered in Auckland on Wednesday night. Speaking ot tax tion, he said that the Liberal Party always looked upon the 'fanners of New Zealand as workers, and the farmers never enjoyed such prosperity as when the Liberal Party were in powpr. He objected to members of the Reform Party prancing over the country howling about over-borrow-ing by the Liberals, when the Reform Party" had borrowed about £12.000,000 in two years. Mr. Massey had commented on the Liberal Government's extravagance on buildings. On this year's Estimates no less than £223,000 was provided for public buildings. Sir Joseph Ward received a vote of thanks, and, at the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Joseph Pohlen, who was selected to-day as the Opposition candidate for Tauranga, was introduced to the meeting.
