HOCKEY WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING. The fifteenth annual meeting of the Wellington Hockey Association was held in the Tiffin Rooms last evening. There was an attendance of over twenty delegates, and Mr. C. M. Cathie was voted to the chair. A letter was received from the Government Insurance Hockey Club, stating that the club had decided to drop the word "Government" in the title. This was approved. Affiliation was granted to the refoimed Wesley Club. Official notification was received of the disbanding of the old X.Y.M.I. Club,, out of which had been formed a club to be known as M.Y.M.I. The resignation was accepted, and affiliation was granted to the latter club, which is to play senior. The resignation of the St. Mark's Club was received with regret. Affiliation was granted to a newlyformed club, to be known as the Pirates. The club intends to play junior and third-class. The desire of the Victoria College Club to change, its name to the Victoria University College Hockey Club was approved. Mr. Cathie moved the adoption of the report, stating that during the last season hockey undoubtedly made a forward move. Hockey had had a hard fight for public favour, and had been at a great disadvantage through being forced to play on grounds so far from the centre of the city. He did not think the loss of the Shield last year was a matter for very great regret. "I think we had too much shield hockey," said Mr. Cathie, "and it was not fair to the junior players." At the same time, the Chairman said he fully expected Wellington to be just as anxious this year, asm the past, to secure the championship. The financial position of the association was not as good'as it should be, owing to the great expense — extiaordinary and non-recurring — entailed last year. The assets showed an excess over liabilities of £87. Mr. C. Strack seconded the motion, and referred in glowing terms to the splendid work of the secretary, Mr. A. A. Bennett. • The motion was carried. Mr. Cathie then moved that the secretary be _ granted an honorarium of £21. This could not be looked upon in any way as a salary, as^tlie amount covered would barely cover incidental expenses. The motion was seconded by Mr. Richards, and was carried unanimously, amidst applause. In accordance with notice of motion, Mr. Cathie moved an alteration of Rule s—that5 — that it be altered to provide for the election of six vice-presidents instead of three. Objection was taken to this on account of the fact that an officer has a vote at Management Committee meetings, and it was not desired that officers should be in a position to out-vote the direct representatives of players. Mr. Richards moved that the number be "not more than five." This was favoured by IMr. Bennett. The amendment was carried. After considerable discussion, it .was decided to fix the registration fee for playing members at-2s 6d. For all other members above those actually required to fill the number of teams entered in the various competitions the fee will be Is. Officers were elected as follow .-—President, Dr. H. C. Faulke (re-elected); vice-presidents, Hon. A. L. Herdman, and Messrs. M. F. Luckie, D. Millar, W. J. Organ, and E. H. Hiley; secretary, Mr. Alfred A. Bennett ■(re-elect-ed); treasurer, Mr. W. G.
