THE MAYORALTY

Mr. Henry Holland, Socialist ' Democrat candidate for the Mayoralty, addressed a well-attended meeting of electors at Victoria Hall last evening, and met with a good reception. His address was chiefly directed against the administration of Mr. Luke and Mr. M'Laren, the other candidates, in their capacity as Mayors last year and the year before respectively. Mr. Luke was criticised as being an opponent of Labour, and Mr. M'Laren as not being true to the pledges to Labour given in his successful candidature for the Mayoralty, and as being a prey to social ambitions. In other respects, the speaker followed the general lines of hi 6 initial oration at Brooklyn, and the platform set out in the pamphlet circulated on behalf of the Social Democrat Party. The usual vote was carried.
