"If Mr. Carnegie, who continually espouses Great Britain's cause, were a citizen of any other nation he would be charged with treason," asserted Senator Chamberlain in the course of the Panama Tolls debate m Senate. Mr. Carnegie, said the Senator, never hesitated to spend millions to inculcate the reciprocal feeling of the people of the United States for Great Britain. The Senator attacked Mr. Carnegie during a heated argument with Senator Jones over the President's attitude.
