DOCTORS AND FRIENDLY SOCIETIES
INTERFERENCE WITH CONTRACTS. (IT TILIORAPH— FRISS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, 25th March. At the annual meeting of the District Committee of Oddfellows of the Otago district, held at Outram to-day, some discussion took place regarding the attitude of medical men to Friendly Societies. The discussion arose through the following motion which wa« brought forward .-—"That this meeting of the Otago district of M.U.1.0.0.F. regrets that the M-edical Association, according to a newspaper report of the Medical Conference held at Auckland, is attempting to interfere with contracts existing between individual medical officers and various lodges." Some speakers stated that if there were matters requiring adjustment cr reconsideration they were always prepared to discuss them a-s between lodges and medical officers, but they would not permit of anything that would tend to create class distinctions or work inequitably amongst members, and thus strike at the very root of the constitution. The motion was carried.
