TELEGRAMS HOUSE DESTROYED (BY TELEGRAPH.— SPECIAL TO THE POST.)
PALMERSTON N., This Day. The fire brigade received a call shortly after 10.30 last night to an outbreak *of fire in a six-roomed house in Knowlesstreet, Terrace End, owned and occupied by Mr. G. Olsen. Their services, however, were practically of no avail, owing to the absence of sufficient water. There is only an inch main in the street, which is of recent construction, and the nearest plug was five hundred away. Mrs. Olsen, who had been unwell, and was to enter a hospital to-day, had been engaged during the evening preparing for her departure. A little after 10 o'clock she visited a neighbour's j for some milk, leaving some clothes air- ! ing in front of the kitchen fire. On her return she found the kitchen in flames. The house was completely destroyed, together with practically the whole of the contents and a considerable amount of money. The house, was insured for £455, and the furniture for £150. ~ ~ (PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
