A BUSY TIME FOR THE BRIGADE

SEVERAL FIRES.

The Fire Brigade had a busy time I this morning. At 3.17 o'clock a call, was received from Ingestre-place, where a two-story house of wood and it on, containing five rooms, was abla-ze. The outbreak was suppressed after considerable damage had been clone both to the building and its contents. , The owner of the house is Miss Emma Siddells. of Roxburgh street, the tenant being Mr. Hugh A. Edwards. The fire originated under the flooring. The Commercial Union Company has a risk of £420 on the house and the United Office has a risk of £100 on tho furniture. A portion of the adjoining building (No. 6) j was damaged by fire. This place is also owned by Miss Siddells, the occupier being Mr. James Ruddlfr. While the brigade was still engaged with the outbreak at Ingestre-place word was received that an unoccupied house of seven rooms (No. 106) on. tho Parade at Island Bay was on fire, and a detachment of the corps was rushed out to that part of the city. The flames had obtained a firm hold before the fire was discovered, and when the brigadesmen" reached the locality they found it impossible to save the house, which was soon reduced to ashes. The house was owned by_ Lamey_ Bros., of Te Aroha, and was insured in the Alliance Office for £600. The British Dominions General In* surance Company will cover all your loss by fire. Ask for the rates at their office, Panama-street', and secure yourself from all risks. — Advt.
