SAWYERS' BAY SHOOTING CASE
FURTHER PARTICULARS. (By Telegraph —Press Association.— Copyright.) DUNEDIN, 23rd March. Further particulars concerning the shooting incident at Sawyeis' Bay yesterday show that Green went to .Mr. Petry's hoitse, where his wife was working, and, with Perry's consent, entered the kitchen. Green asked his wife to go for a walk, as he had something to {■•ay to her, but she refused, and he produced a revolver. She then threw her hands up to protect her head, and realised that she had been shot in tho hand and upper portion of the body. Gicen then pulled out a razor and made a lunge iv her. She dashed for t.i? back door, which she managed to get open, and scrambled over 0, bach fence, falling into a vacant section. The only reason that she could ftive for her husband's behaviou" is' that she declined to live with him until he provided herself arid children with a horns. She had two wounds on the top of her shoulder, where bullets had passed through and afterwards penetrated the neck on the left side. There weie two wounds in the scalp 'i-bove the left oar, ond a comb which she was wearing had been to pieces. There way also a wound on the 'left thumb, evidently made by a bullet. After the shooting Green went to Port Ghalmeis and gave himself up to the police. Accused is about thirty-five years of age. On examining thu kitchen, where the shooting occurred, a constable found a bullet embedded in the cupboard door about five feet above the floor. Another bullet had stiuck the window-sill, and, glancing up, had shattered the window-pane. Two spent bullets were also found on the floor. A six-chambered American bulldog revolver, which he purchased on Saturdnj , was used by accused. The bullets have been extracted from Mrs. Green's neck and shoulders, and slio is now progressing towards recovery.
