DIVORCE DISCUSSION REGARDING COSTS.
GISBORNE, 23rd March. _ Decrees nisi were granted to-day in the- following divorce cases : — Margaret Mognussen v. Henry Mognussen, desertion ) Margaret Barlow v. William John Barlow, misconduct. In the last case his Honour said that he would make an order for coKte against respondent on the highest scale. Mr. Burnard, for petitioner, said that an order was hardly necessary, as the question of costs had been arranged with refipondent's solicitor. His Honour : But why such an arrangement? Surely it is unusual in a divorce case? Mr. BuTnar-tL; Very well, your H/n>« our, I will take an order. His Honour : No, I will not make a-n order at all. I don't think that those arrangements should' be made. The Solicitor General may make an enquiry ; he may interfere even now. They haw to remove any suggestion of collusion. His Honour subsequently made an order for costs on the highest scale.
