A deputation from the Social Democratic Party attended the monthly meeting of the Wellington Boot-makers' Union last night and presented their views an Um> platform of the party. At the conclusion of the delegates' addresses, the meeting, with one dissentient, paeeed the following motion : — "That this meeting of Wellington bootmakers, having carefully considered the position as confronts Labour, decides to endorse the candidature of Mr. H. E. Holland, the Mayoral candidate of the Social Democratic Party." It was also decided to assist financially in the campaign. The Union Company's steamer Waikare, which was wrecKed in Milford Sound some years ago, has not changed her position since she went over on her side shortly after the mishap occurred.
