{it rtUMßiPH.— tttist mocnnoN.) WANGANUI, 20th March. 'A unique ceremony was witnessed tonight, when in the 'presence of a packed audience, ' Mt&. Gregor M'Gregor was crowned Queen of the Carnival. The lady -B a full-Wooded Maori of high lineage, and the ceremony was appropriate to the occasion. Sir James Carroll officiated, and the Queen of the Carnival wo* attended by leading local ladies who were candidates for election. They a«ted as maids of honour, and a large number of Maoris participated in a most interesting programme, of 'which war songs and dances formed the chief feature.
