Thomas Hastie, a farmer, of Johnson' ville, was adjudged a. bankrupt by the Chiof Justico this morning upon the petition of Carl A. Lehmann, a Stratford creditor. Mr. Neavo appeared for Hastie, and Mr. Sladden for the petitioning creditor. For commercial transport and passenger service, the Argyll motor vehicle has set <i standard in New Zealand. Argyll motor-buses have made a pronounced success of the Timaru munici\ pal motor service, and have been adopted for the Kelburne motor-bus system and the Pahiatua-Pongaro.i motor mail service, among others, while tho Argyll motor lorry is widely used by public bodies and private firms for trnnspnit purposes.
