The result of to-day's meeting of the Labour caucus was not communicated to the press. The Sydney Daily Telegraph un» derstands thab it is' almost certain that the caucus will agree that tho income tax exemption be reduced from £300 to £250, which will apply to this year's income. There is to be no alteration in the exemption of £50 for each chikl, but the, tax on incomes from rural lands' is to be raised from sixpence to eightpence. The basis of taxation existing in New Zealand in respect to cheques and receipts is also to be imposed.
