The Hon. J. Allen returned from New Plymouth yesterday evening, and the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher is due from Hawkes Bay to-night. The other Cabinet Ministers are in Wellington. Dr. Nevill, Primate of New Zealand, left Wellington for Dunedin last night. Mr. J. B. Hine, M.P. for Stratford, was a passenger by tho train which left for Taranaki this morning. Mr. Charles Cameron, formerly of Auckland, now a member of the firm of Cameron Bros., New York, is at present in Wellington. * Amongst the visitors to Wellington is Mr. P. Duffy, of the firm of Duffy and' Co., San Francisco, who has come to New Zealand in connection with the marketing of American fruit in the Dominion. Regret was expressed at the meeting of the Royal Choral Society last night that Mr. J. G. W. Aitken, the president of the society, was unable- to be present, owing to illness. His re-election, was greeted with a hearty round of applause. Mr. T. H. Jones, A.I.A.N.Z. (Treasury Department) has been promoted by the Public Service Commissioner to a position as Assistant Inspector of Departmental Accounts. Mr. Jones entered upon tho duties ol his new app6intment to-day. Ml 1 . Justice HosUJng, whose residence will bo in Wellington, ' will leave for Gisborne about the 9th inst. to preside over the Supreme Court sessions in that town. Mr. Justice Edwards is" due from Auckland in order to carry on tho work at Wellington during Mr. Justice Hosking's absence. Mr. Justice Sim will take the place of Sir Joshua Williams, P.C., in the Otago judicial district. Mr. Albert E. Ramsden, who for tho past eighteen montha has occupied the position of assistant mill manager at the Petone Wollen, Mills, has been appointed to the vacancy caused by the death of the late mill manager. Mr. Ramsden, after finishing at Wellington College, spent somfr yeara at the local mills working through various departments, and in 1906 went to Yorkshire, -the hub of the woollen trade, for further technical training. He specialised in textile designing, both practical and theoretical, passing all examinations at the Yorkshire University. He obtained an appointment as designer in Leeds, and subsequently gained the position of inside manager in a large mill turning out all kinds of worsteds, woollen and union goods. After five years of hard work he returned to New Zealand, and, as stated, was appointed assistant mill manager. lie now succeeds to the higher position. '
