In the titg-of-war the bakers had an easy victory. The trophies will be presented to the winners at the Beehive Chambers on Monday next at 8 p.m. KIRKCALDIE AND STAINS'S EMPLOYEES. The annual picnic of the employees of Messrs. Kirkcaldie and Stains was held at Belmont. The firm was represented by Mr. and Mrs. S. Kirkcaldie and j family, who, together with a large representation of the staff and friends, spent a most enjoyable afternoon, ideal weather contributing in no small measure to the success of the function. Davis. NORTHLAND SCHOOL. ' The annual picnic of the Northland State School was held at Miiritai_ this week. About two hundred, children and parents attended. The boisterous j morning no doubt kept some away, but I those who crossed the harbour were rewarded with an enjoyable day. The committee desires to thank the donors o£ special prizes, and all those who( materially helped to the success ofthe outing. Winners of sports events during the day were :— W. Walsh, Mrs. Burkett (married ladies' race), E. Eton (married men's race). Mr. Walsh's special prize for highest aggregate points was won by Ivan Eton (15 points), C. Shapcott (13 points) being second. CIVIL SERVANTS. The third annual picnic of the Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce was held at Day's Bay yesterday. In the morning a cricket match was played between the officers located in the Union Chambers and those in the Customs Buildings, the former winning by 97 runs to 64. During the afternoon a sports programme was decided. The following are the results of the various events : — Ladies' race, Miss Larchin 1, Miss E. Richards 2; ladies' nail-driving, Mrs. A.
