SIDK-SttOWS. The Sideshows Committee of the Citi» zens' Carnival met in the Town Hall last evening, Councillor G. Frost presiding. The secretary (Mr. Amos) reported that he had received two telegrams from Mr. Trennery, of Wonderland Park, Auckland, offering to provide certain side* shows and to give 20 pel* cent, of the gross takings to the Carnival, with a minimum of £20. The offer, w&s accepted. A suggestion was made that some members of the " Aladdin " Pantomime Company should be asked to assist in carrying- on gome of the side-shows, and the secretary was requested to interview the manager of the company on the subject. Messrs. Robbie and Wright were appointed to take charge of the shooting gallery; Mr. Julius, the guessing competitions; Miss Young, the fortune telling tent ; and Messrs. Wright, Luckie, and Hislop the drop-kicking competition. Mr. Coventry (Brooklyn), who had previously donated a gold chain for the prettiest girl under sixteen, replaced this offer avith one of a silver chain for the boy making the ugliest face, and Messrs. Duncan and M'lntosh donated a, hat, valued at 10s 6d, to set offi the second ugliest face. , Arrangements were made for a shooting competition and a baby show. Mr. Griffin's offer to supply a merry-go-round, one-third of the gross veceipts to go to the Carnival fund, was accepted. Hoop-las and splash exhibitions were arranged for, Mi-. Julius to have charge of them. > SPORTS COMMITTEE.. At a meeting of the Sports Committee, presided over by Mr. A. MarryaAt, it was reported that the Wellington Municipal Fire Brigade would give a display on Wednesday evening, 4th March, and that the Hutt Fire Brigade would assist. If possible, the American athletes will take part in the sprint events on Wednesday evening. , The motor-car driving competition will be held on Wednesday afternoon under the supervision of Mr, J. E. Fitesgeiald. A fancy dress cricket match will be played on Thursday afternoon. Messrs. Hill and Keesing were appointed a. subcommittee to accompany the Mayor when he waits on the commander of ft.M.S. Philomel and endeavour to arrange for sports for the men of the ship on Thursday, the executive to be requested to grant prizes for the winners. For the inter-schools sports oil Friday, 6th March, Messrs. T. W. Leslie and A. C. Kitto were appointed stt triers, and Rev, Father Hickson and Messrs. E. A. Dawson, J. H. Pollock 4 J, Doyle, R.W. Shallcraw, D. Weir, and C. M. Peixotto judges. , The attractions for Saturday, the 7th March, will include a massed display, and physical drill by cadafcs and the Wellington Provincial Amtvtaur Athletic Championships. An offer from Mr. A. W. Kent to put on a wrestling maldh (catch-as-catch-can) between Napier and Wellington for £20 a-side was referred to the executive. It is expected that maypole dances will be held each afternoon. THE BEAUTY SHOW. Letters were received from Miss Baker (Fifczherbert-terrace Softool), Miss M'Lean (principal of the Wellington Girls' College), and Mrs. Smith (Chilton House School), objecting to a beauty competition for young girla, and it was agreed that it should be abandoned. ADVERTISING HUE CARNIVAL. A meeting of the Advertising Committee took place last night, and it was de« cided to enter upon an exie&Btvo campaign for giving publicity to the many attractions of tne Carnival.
