NEW PLYMOUTH, 19th Feb. At the annual meeting of the United Press Association Mr. Fenwick complimented the chairman upon his able address, which he considered the best ever delivered before the association. It was resolved that the address be printed and forwarded to all sharehblders. The annual report and balance-sheet were passed on the motion of the chairman after a brief discussion. The report mentioned that- a fresh agreement had been made with the Australian Cable Association and the right to use the Sydney Sun and independent cable services had been acquired for a term of years. During the year 550,435 words of original cable news had been supplied, which was more than double the number which used to be supplied a few years a-go. It was mentioned that 72 papers now subscribed to the association, of which all but four also take the cable services. Shares had been issued to six new applicants during the year. A number of votes of thanks were passed to the directors and staff, and the meeting also passed votes expressing their hearty appreciation of the kindness shown to them by the. New Plymouth Borough Council, the local papers, and the people of New Plymouth generally.
